Bags from the Rainforest
All of the Products from the Rainforest are made with Treetap®, a silky smooth material that is softer and lighter than leather. Treetap® is a plant material with natural and seasonal variations that produce hues ranging from light brown to very dark brown. The available colors apply to the straps or other parts not made with the Treetap® material.
The production of Treetap® (a textile that is made using sustainably harvested wild rubber that is vulcanized in the sun onto a cotton backing) involves 200 Indians' and tappers' families, contributing to valorize their lives, their traditional cultures and the preservation and sustainable use of the biodiversity of their lands. Treetap® is an ecological alternative to animal leather, and in finding markets for the Artisan material the Seringeros and Indians make a living and give an economic incentive to keep the rainforest intact.
